From Casie's latest swing video - 2004 review , Hole In One from the Callaway Junior Worlds in San Diego 2003, or Casie's first recorded golf swing (yuck) from March of 2002 there is allot of information here.
1. Pleasanton Fairways Junior Open February 29, 2004
As Casie turned 8 and got taller this was not a great effort. A lack luster 40.
2. Castlewood Junior April 12 and 13, 2004
Another poor effort. It seems 8 years of age is a rough one.
3. Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour - Hygaard Foods- Millwoods Golf Course , Edmonton Alberta Canada May 15-16, 2004
Casie's first 36 hole event. This is truly where the swing changes that where started in March started to show themselves. A great start at 36 hole events even with a 2 stroke penalty that was accessed for dragging the rake through the sand Casie finished 3rd by 1 stroke. Casie also one the long drive by staying in the fairway. Even more interesting was one of the tournament officials helping one of the girls line up a shot by giving her a target to aim at then moving away. I had never seen that before in a tournament. Great new rule. Maybe next year they help them line up putts by identifying the break (just kidding). As a former Albertan it was interesting to see some things stay the same from country to country. Watch out Alberta Casie will be back next year with rule book in hand and smile on her face.
4.JGANC/NCPGA Junior Championships, Diablo Grande June 21-24, 2004
First time in a match play situation was a great learning experience. Getting seeded 3rd and winning the first day of match play 5-4. Diablo Grande did a great job. However lack of focus was evident on the second day. Casie's 1-1 match play record should improve.
5. Salinas Little Peoples Championship - June 24-25, 2004
Awesome !!!!! Girls overall champion With a 32, 34 over two days Casie had the low score all participants girls and boys. Much better then the 73 last year By the way tournaments are meant to be fun and this one was again.
6. Mountain Shadows Foxtail Junior Classic - June 27,2004
Awesome !!!!! Casie tied for second in the girls 11 and under having won in a putt off. Casie also captured closest to the pin and longest drive. What a great day. Great tournament. Great effort
7. NCPGA Ty Caplin Memorial/Ben Hogan Pro-Junior Championship Elkhorn CC, Stockton CA - July 5,2004
A great effort in the first tournament played with David Balbi. The future is definitely bright in there first place finish. A great time was had by all
8. Las Positas Junior Golf Championships - July 9 - August 13, 2004 ( every Wednesday)
This year (2004) as the last 2 years Casie had a very successful LP Junior Champions. From low average score to overall winner she again gained valuable experience. Lisa Educate ran a great program this year. Thanks again for letting Casie move up in age groups. If you have a child in the Livermore, California area and want them to play golf send them to Poppy Ridge. Check out the pictures and video from a great year.
9. U.S. Kids Golf 2004 Golf World Championships, Williamsburg, VA - July 29- July 31, 2004
Another great time. Casie's fourth international event. And the best to date in her young life. Finished 5th (50 + kids from all over the globe) 2nd in the US. Even though her caddy (dad) sucked it was truly a time to remember . Check out all the great people we met (except one snooty little girl from day one not pictured from California). IT WAS AWESOME !!!!!! Hopefully Casie will see you all again next year Check out the pictures by clicking the link.
10. Corena Green Golf Classic for Girls - August 3rd, 2004
Another great effort Finishing first over all in the 10 and under group with a 36. Great effort at a great golf club. Thanks to the Peninsula Golf and Country Club Women's 9 Hole Golf Association for a great event . And thank you to Sandy Ford from Brookside Country Club Women's 9 Hole Golf Association for her support.
11. The First Tee of Sacramento 2004- October, and November 2004
Angie Dixon with The First Tee of Sacramento was nice enough to let Casie play in 18 events at the later part of 2004. As these are 18 hole events there was a question about , playing ability, stamina, and scoring as it relates to protecting the rest of the field. Being an overzealous parent I thought Casie would lap the field. After the first event however I questioned my own parental intelligence. I had watched an 8 year old girl walk 5.35 miles pushing golf cart in the wind and cold of an October day and I wondered why. An extraordinarily bad feeling that I had made a child do something they were not prepared to do. Well Casie persevered that first experience in wind and cold. And since that cold October day got used to playing 18 events and even excited about the promise of playing them. So look out in 2005. Thanks again to Angie and The First Tee of Sacramento.
12. Publix Junior Championships. Miami Florida ( At Doral's Red Course ) -December 21-23, 2004
First of all what can you say about being in Florida in December other than WOW. Casie met some great new friends and saw some old ones. Her second place finish in the 8 and 9 year old division (64) despite not playing well indicated some great improvement over last years play. As this concluded the 2004 tournament season we hope it left lasting impression on Casie that will help her in what ever she does in the future. Everything being equal it was interesting end to great 2004 golf season. With a brand new putting stroke we all look forward to a great 2005.
Congratulations to first place finisher Alexis Thompson (63) from Florida in addition to 3rd place finisher Alessandra Kutz (70)
